They Have Lives Too

Celebrities have their lives to live too.

They Have Lives Too: Earlier this year, I watched this intriguing Kdrama(yeah, I’m one of those) titled “Imitation“, based on a webtoon of the same title. The drama
tells a story of the lives of idols in the entertainment industry. How most of
them started training from an early age, with only few of them finally making
it to limelight. You’ll see kids of say 7-9 years old, training tirelessly for
a dream they might not be able to achieve.

And when they finally get to the top, they can’t even live their lives
without their agency and fans dictating their every move. They have to watch
what they eat, who they talk to, ohh and some of the guys can’t even date because
they have to remain single for the female fans. This could be the reason why
some of them end up taking their own lives.

This made me think of Korean actor Ji Soo’s scandal in March, 2021. Although
Ji Soo made his debut in 2009, he became popular in 2015 after he appeared in
the high school dramas Angry Mom and Cheer Up. I personnally
got to know Ji Soo after I saw his performance in the Korean Historical drama, Moon
Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo
, which aired in 2016. Finally finding his
footing, Ji Soo joined KeyEast, a management agency owned by actor Bae
Yong-joon, the contract was signed 2020.

On the 2nd of March, 2020, an anonymous post was made on an online forum,
accusing Ji Soo of being a bully during his school years. Fans turned against
him, he lost endsorments and his contracts got cancelled. In fact, he was on
the set of River Where the Moon Rises when this happened but he was
taken off the show, Na In-woo was asked to replace him as the lead actor.

Ji Soo was forced to issue a public apology where he accepted the
allegations and begged for forgiveness. Few weeks later, his new agency KeyEast
issued a statement confirming Ji Soo’s activities will be on hold due to his
military enlistment in October 2021. (Just tell us that y’all threw him away).

After further investigations, it was confirmed that Ji Soo was innocent
after all.

Last week, a lady made a post on social media, accusing another Korean
actor, Kim Seon-ho, of emotional abuse. According to her, the actor coerced her
into getting an abortion while the two were dating after he promised to marry
her.

Kim Seon-ho just got recognition last year, for his role in the drama, Start-Up.
He did so well that he bagged himself the award for Most Popular Actor, at the
Baeksang Arts Awards this year. He had so many projects lined up for this year
and had just finished up his role in the drama Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha before this
scandal.

Just yesterday, Seon-ho issued an apology, accepting his faults in the
matter, after which the said “ex-girlfriend” returned to say that it
was all a misunderstanding. Seon-ho has already lost contracts and endsorments
due to this scandal. He has been replaced in some movie roles and then she says
it’s a misunderstanding… Wawu!

Imagine struggling for years to get to where you are, only for one
unfortunate fellow to accuse you for one thing or the other just to bring you
down. Even if they were guilty, why wait till they were at the peak of their
career, why are you bringing it up now. Why can’t humans be genuinely happy for
one another? Why are we always trying to bring each other down?

This does not only happen in Korea. It is in every entertainment industry
and we all have a role to play in it. Why would you release a celebrity’s sex
tape? Don’t you have sex? Imagine yourself, your sister, or your lover in that
situation? How would you feel when people watch the tape and make sarcastic
comments about it? So why should you watch it? Why should you even post it?

Celebrities have their lives to live too.

Women In Tuxedos

Women In Tuxedos

Women In Tuxedos: Word on the street is that women are taking over the tuxedo style trend. Well, that’s the power of a woman. The same lady you admired her dinner dress yesterday would capitvate the whole room today, dressed in that same suit you are wearing.

A tuxedo is known to be a semi formal dress code for men. It could be a dinner jacket or the complete suit, which consists of the jacket, trouser, shirt and in some cases the waistcoat. Men usually wear these suits for formal events like dinner parties, weddings and stuffs, while the ladies are expected to turn up in their pretty dresses. Not anymore.

Few years back, images of ladies looking really good in tuxedos starting popping up on the internet. Some wore their’s to dinner parties and buisness occasions, some were groomsladies (yea, what happened to all the men), and some were seen at the red carpet of really big events.

British designer, Paul Smith took this up a notch and launched his tuxedo collection just for women in December, 2018. The line did so well that they have since then, added few updates for each season and they are still producing new designs till date.

In an interview with Bazaar, the designer described his work saying, “The women’s tux has always had this appealing sexiness to it and I’ve always liked that androgynous look. Maybe you think it’s a bit weird for me to call it a frame around a picture, but the picture is you girls, the frame is the streamlined elegant look of a tuxedo.“

Her Tuxedo is another worthy mention as they are in the business of making classy and colourful suits for ladies in different styles and pattern.

In my opinion, you don’t even have to stress this trend. Imagine looking good and sexy without having to expose your skin. Just add the right accessories and you are good to go.

Trend Alert: Eyewear Chain

Trend Alert: Eyewear Chain

Trend Alert: Eyewear Chain: Believe it or not, this is actually a fashion trend. I came across the Eyeglass Chain while looking for a strap for my work glasses. I didn’t want to go for the boring nerdy look, wanted to look fashionable even with my glasses and that was when I bumped into this.

Not many people know about this trend even though it has been around for ages. Research shows that it has been in and out of trend over the years, dating way back to the 80s.

It was said that ages ago, well cultured Victorian ladies would wear a long chain draped across their chest, attached to their glasses (or lorgnettes) to keep them away from their face but at this same time, ensure that they’re reachable when needed.

The Eyewear chain came back in 2013 after Frame Chain launched its debut collection sometime in 2013. The trend has since then, popped up here and there in the past years.

The good thing about these chains is that they can be attached to any type of glasses, from sunglasses to prescription glasses. It can be any form of jewellery, be it beads or gold chains.

The trend evolved more during the pandemic last year when everyone was forced to go around in Face Masks. People started attaching beads and chains to their face masks, to look more fashionable and also prevent the masks from falling off.

What do you think of this new trend, will you try it out?

Trend Alert: Pajamas Everyday Wear

Trend Alert: Pajamas Everyday Wear: Imagine attending a wedding and seeing a guest, looking so chic in a pajama set you probably got out of that morning. Only difference is the material and the styling.

Now this is something you don’t see everyday. Or maybe its something you see everyday but your subconscious doesn’t pay attention to it. But this time, it’s different cause you have this same color and similar design of pajama set. Then you see someone else in it, looking fabulous at a wedding you spent hours picking out your outfit for. This is what fashion is all about.

Few years back, a lot of people would have frowned upon wearing their pajama set out on the streets. In fact, pajama designers were finding it hard to convince buyers to spend so much on something they would wear to bed, but it’s a different story today.

Everyone wishes to jump on this new fashion trend as it makes one look stylish without much effort.

The outfit consists of an oversized silk set, that comes in different colors and patterns. Fit for both males and females. It can be styled in different ways, depending on the occasion.

Though it has been around for some time now, the Pajama fashion trend became more pronounced last year, during the quarantine period. Then you would see people wear it to for a quick drop at the mall or when running errands. From there, the style grew to become something you see everywhere, be it evening hangouts, parties, work places and weddings.

Adire(Tie Dye) Fashion

Things You Should Know About Adire(Tie Dye) Fashion

Things You Should Know About Adire(Tie Dye) Fashion: Over the years, Tie Dye fabrics have been circulated round the world. There’s hardly anyone who doesn’t have a tie dye clothing in his/her wardrobe.

The growth of this fabric has become so vast that it is now used in creating so many designs. But do you know where it all began?

Tie Dye can be traced back to the 5th century, from the T’ang Dynasty in China. Centuries later, a tribe in Japan started creating another form of Tie Dye which they called “Shibori”. This technique was used in creating both art and fabrics.

In Africa, Tie Dye originated from the Yorubas, specifically in Abeokuta, in the 20th century. They made the fabric using the “Resist” technique, which is divided into 3 different ways. Onikan, Alabere and Eleko. In fact, a 2000 Yoruba movie called “Oduduwa”, re-enacted how the Yoruba women of old started creating Adire fabrics back when there were only white cloths.

Adire fabric grew and was first seen in Europe sometime in the 20’s, after the European Textile Merchants started pushing the fabric to the continent. And from there, the beautiful Tie Dye fabric got recognition from every other continent.

Today, Tie Dye is used in the production of different fabrics and styles. It is used in all types of fabric not just the cotton and silk fabric it started with. It can be made easily in different patterns though it requires much concentration.
